Shubman Gill anchored India’s chase with his slowest ODI hundred, guiding them to a tricky win while chasing 229. Mohammed Shami set up the victory with a brilliant five-wicket haul, reaching 200 ODI wickets faster than anyone in terms of balls bowled. Despite a strong 69-run opening stand, India had to dig deep on a sluggish pitch that tested their patience.

Bangladesh, after winning the toss, struggled early, slumping to 35 for 5. Axar Patel was on a hat-trick, but dropped catches and Towhid Hridoy’s fighting century kept them in the contest. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul missed crucial chances, allowing Bangladesh to reach a competitive total. Hridoy battled cramps but played a key role, while Rishad Hossain added late runs. Shami returned to pick up three wickets in the death overs, using slower deliveries effectively.

India’s chase began aggressively, with Rohit scoring 41 off 36, but his dismissal slowed the scoring. Virat Kohli struggled against spin, falling to Rishad. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel failed to capitalize, and KL Rahul survived a dropped catch before finishing unbeaten.

Gill, who was 26 off 23 when Rohit departed, adjusted to the conditions and paced his innings patiently. He avoided risks, dealing mainly in singles before accelerating late. His half-century came in the 32nd over, and he reached his hundred in 125 balls, finishing with a six and a four. Rahul sealed the win with a six, as India chased the target with 21 balls to spare, overcoming past struggles on slow pitches.
