India’s coach Gautam Gambhir praised his players for embracing a high-risk, high-reward approach in their 4-1 T20I series win over England. The aggressive mindset was evident in the last two matches. In Pune, despite losing three wickets early, India posted 181 for 9, which proved enough for victory. In Mumbai, they went bigger, smashing 247 for 9, their fourth-highest T20I total.

Gambhir emphasized that India wants to play fearless cricket, targeting 250-260 regularly, even if it means occasional collapses. “We don’t want to fear losing a game. This team has adopted selflessness and fearlessness as its ideology,” he said. He stressed that this approach would continue in major tournaments.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav echoed Gambhir’s views, reaffirming that India will stick to its ultra-aggressive strategy. “We have discussed the brand of cricket we want to play, and we’re sticking to it. It’s a high-risk, high-reward game, and we’ll continue doing what works for us,” he said.
Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy was one of India’s standout performers, finishing as the series’ highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets at 9.85. Gambhir lauded his transition from IPL to international cricket, especially against a strong England side on batting-friendly pitches. Suryakumar also praised Varun’s fielding efforts, noting his commitment to improving his skills.
India relied heavily on spin throughout the series, with only one frontline pacer in each game. Gambhir explained that pairing Varun with Ravi Bishnoi strengthened the middle overs while maintaining batting depth. “Having a No. 8 batter, even if he doesn’t face many balls, allows the top seven to play freely,” he concluded.
