England Announces Playing XI for 4th Test vs India, Mark Wood and Rehan Ahmed Excluded from Squad

In a significant development, England has officially announced its playing XI for the fourth Test in the ongoing five-match series against India. The team has made two changes from the previous match in Rajkot, bringing in Ollie Robinson and Shoaib Bashir in place of Mark Wood and Rehan Ahmed.

England’s performance in the series has been a rollercoaster, securing a memorable victory in the first Test in Hyderabad but facing crushing defeats in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot. The decision to replace Rehan and Wood is attributed to their underwhelming performances, with Rehan struggling with the ball, and Wood managing only four wickets in two games at a subpar strike rate of 94.25.

After a tough debut in Visakhapatnam, Shoaib Bashir returns to the XI, stepping in for Rehan Ahmed. Ollie Robinson, recognized for his precise line and length, replaces Mark Wood in the lineup, earning the management’s confidence.

Jonny Bairstow remains in the team despite recent struggles with the bat, hoping to regain his form. His presence adds depth to the lineup for the Ranchi Test.

England’s Playing XI for the 4th Test:

  1. Ben Duckett
  2. Zak Crawley

  4. Joe Root
  5. Jonny Bairstow
  6. Ben Stokes (C)
  7. Ben Foakes (WK)
