Former Tamil Nadu player has strongly criticized coach Sulakshan Kulkarni for scapegoating captain Sai Kishore following the team’s innings defeat against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semi final.
The controversy erupted when Kulkarni publicly criticized Sai Kishore’s decision to bat first, sparking outrage on social media platforms as fans voiced their dissatisfaction.
Expressing his disappointment, Karthik condemned Kulkarni’s remarks on social media, denouncing the coach’s actions as unjust and detrimental to team morale.
Instead of supporting the captain, who led the team to the semifinals after seven years—a commendable achievement—Kulkarni’s comments unfairly placed blame on Sai Kishore and the entire team.
The criticism stemmed from Sai Kishore’s decision to bat first after winning the toss on what appeared to be a green pitch. Tamil Nadu’s batting lineup collapsed, posting a mere 146 runs. Mumbai took advantage of the situation, with Shardul Thakur’s explosive century propelling them to a commanding total of 378, securing a substantial 232-run lead.

In the second innings, Tamil Nadu faltered once again, as the opposition dismissed them for 162, resulting in a devastating defeat by an innings and 70 runs.
Kulkarni’s post match remarks, attributing the loss to the captains decision on the first day, drew sharp criticism from Karthik, who expressed his dis approval using five thumbs down emojis.
