Devajit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will assume the roles of BCCI Secretary and Treasurer on January 12 after securing unopposed elections. The nomination process concluded smoothly with no other candidates coming forward, reflecting the confidence the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has in their leadership.

Achal Kumar Joti, the BCCI’s electoral officer, oversaw the nomination process. On January 7, after the deadline for withdrawing nominations passed, the final list became public. As a result, Saikia and Bhatia emerged as the sole candidates for their respective positions.
Devajit Saikia has been serving as the interim BCCI Secretary since December 1, following Jay Shah’s departure to become ICC Chairman. Saikia’s time as the interim secretary has brought stability to the board, and his extensive experience in cricket administration has made him a trusted figure. His appointment as the official Secretary seems a natural progression due to the success of his interim role.
Prabhtej Singh Bhatia will take over as Treasurer, succeeding Ashish Shelar, who vacated the position to join the Maharashtra government. Moreover, Bhatia’s expertise in finance and management positions him well for the role. With his strong background, Bhatia is set to provide valuable insights and actively enhance the financial administration of the BCCI.
The unopposed election of Saikia and Bhatia marks a new chapter of stable leadership for the BCCI as they step into these important roles for the board’s continued success.
