Afghanistan will indeed travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, as confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This confirmation came amidst ongoing discussions and disputes over the tournament’s hosting rights between India and Pakistan.

ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf and CEO Naseeb Khan recently attended the ICC’s annual Board Meeting in Colombo, where they met with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Despite debates over the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting model—hybrid or fully in India—Afghanistan remains committed to participating. The tournament will see Afghanistan compete, regardless of the hosting format.
During the ICC meeting, ACB officials assured Naqvi that Afghanistan would compete in the tournament, which Pakistan will host in February and March 2025. This assurance provided some relief amid the discussions over the tournament’s location.
In addition to the Champions Trophy confirmation, the ACB also discussed plans for a Youth Tri-Series with the PCB. Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will compete in this series, which will start soon.
The final decision on whether the Champions Trophy 2025 will use a hybrid hosting model or be hosted entirely in India will come soon.
