Deepti Sharma made history in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) by claiming a hat-trick for UP Warriroz against Delhi Capitals. Her remarkable feat helped UP Warriroz secure a thrilling 1-run victory.
Executing the hat-trick across two spells, Deepti first dismissed Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning for 60 in the 14th over. Later, in the penultimate over, she removed Annabel Sutherland and Arundhati Reddy on consecutive deliveries, completing her hat-trick. Deepti didn’t stop there, adding the wicket of Shikha Pandey to her tally and finishing with figures of 4/19 in four overs.
Her exceptional bowling shifted the momentum in UP’s favor, turning the tide of the match after DC seemed in control of the chase.
Deepti’s hat-trick also marked her as the second player, after Issy Wong of Mumbai Indians, to achieve this milestone in the WPL.
Additionally, Deepti made a significant contribution with the bat, scoring 59 runs off 48 balls, aiding UP Warriroz in posting a challenging total of 138/8. Despite looking below-par initially, this total proved to be enough as UP Warriroz clinched their second win of the tournament.
