Debutant Jangoo and Carty lead West Indies to 3-0 ODI series sweep

Amir Jangoo’s unbeaten 104 and Keacy Carty’s 95 guided West Indies to a thrilling four-wicket win over Bangladesh, completing a 3-0 ODI series sweep. Chasing 322 at St Kitts, Jangoo became the first West Indian in 46 years to score a century on ODI debut. His knock included six fours and four sixes, leading two vital partnerships. He added 132 runs with Carty for the fifth wicket and later combined with Gudakesh Motie for a match-winning 91-run partnership. Motie finished unbeaten on 44 off 31 balls, hitting three sixes and four fours.

Bangladesh had posted a competitive 321/5, built on four fifties, including a 150-run unbroken partnership between Mahmudullah (84*) and Jaker Ali (62*). Their total included 12 sixes, a remarkable feat in their ODI history.

West Indies’ chase started shakily with Brandon King and Alick Athanaze falling early. Shai Hope’s dismissal left the team at 56/3. However, Carty stabilized the innings, scoring freely after surviving a drop on 22. He launched a series of boundaries, including hitting Mehidy Hasan for a six and four. Despite a middle-order wobble, Jangoo’s knock kept West Indies on track. His drop by substitute fielder Parvez Hossain Emon proved costly, as he capitalized with a quickfire partnership with Motie.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s innings had faltered after a disastrous start, losing two early wickets. Soumya Sarkar (73) and Mehidy Hasan (77) revived the innings, but West Indies’ accurate bowling restricted Bangladesh in the middle overs. Jaker and Mahmudullah’s late flourish helped Bangladesh to 321, but it was not enough as West Indies chased down the total with 15 balls to spare.
