India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has received a significant boost as he has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is set to return for the upcoming rounds of the Duleep Trophy 2024.
Suryakumar was initially slated to play for India C but suffered a hand injury while representing Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Tournament. According to reports from Hindustan Times, NCA doctors are satisfied with his recovery, although it remains uncertain whether he will participate in the second or third round of the Duleep Trophy.
A BCCI source confirmed, “Surya’s recovery is going well. “Surya’s recovery is going well, and he is almost 100 percent fit,” said a BCCI source. The source met him during the India A vs India B Duleep Trophy match. This match took place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Suryakumar Yadav’s Injury Struggles
Suryakumar Yadav has faced a series of injuries recently. He injured his hand during the Buchi Babu Tournament, where he did not bat in the game. Earlier this year, he underwent groin surgery and also fractured his leg, missing significant action in 2024.
SKY’s Aspirations for Test Cricket
Yadav has expressed a strong desire to play Test cricket for India. He last appeared in a Test match in February 2023 against Australia. Despite his injury setbacks, Yadav remains focused on contributing across all formats for India.
