India’s Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have been nominated by the ICC for the Player of the Month for July, following their outstanding performances. Both top-order batters had a stellar month, amassing runs against South Africa and shining in the Women’s Asia Cup, where India finished as runners-up.

Smriti Mandhana began the month with a brilliant century in the one-off Test match against South Africa. She continued her impressive form in the T20Is, scoring 46 and an unbeaten 54 against the same opposition. In the Women’s Asia Cup, Mandhana scored 173 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 137.
Her opening partner, Shafali Verma, also had an exceptional month, starting with a blistering double century against the visiting South African side. Shafali was the second-highest run-scorer in the Women’s Asia Cup, accumulating 200 runs at a strike rate of over 140.
Joining Mandhana and Shafali in the nominations is Sri Lanka’s inspirational leader, Chamari Athapaththu. Athapaththu led her team to their first-ever Asia Cup win and was the leading run-getter in the tournament. She became the first player to score a century in the Women’s Asia Cup and also played a crucial innings of 61 off 43 balls to guide her team to victory.
These nominations reflect the remarkable performances of Mandhana, Shafali, and Athapaththu, highlighting their significant contributions to their respective teams’ successes.
