Sourav Ganguly Appointed as Director of Cricket at JSW Sports

Sourav Ganguly’s recent days have been eventful. After facing speculation about his removal as the Men’s Director of Cricket at Delhi Capitals, he has secured a prominent position at JSW Sports. The JSW Sports management has appointed the former India captain as the Director of Cricket, overseeing operations for the Delhi Capitals franchise, which they co-own.

In this new role, Ganguly will oversee all cricket-related operations for the JSW Group, including the men’s and women’s Delhi Capitals teams and the Pretoria Capitals competing in the SA20 league in South Africa. His appointment reflects the strong bond he shares with JSW Sports founder Parth Jindal. Initially, Ganguly joined the DC setup in 2019 as an advisor, where he began developing a close working relationship with head coach Ricky Ponting. Consequently, this collaboration led the team to the IPL finals in 2020.

Jindal expressed his delight at Ganguly’s appointment, stating, “Dada has always had a special place at JSW Sports. For us, he is family first and then the cricketing icon that he is. His sharp cricketing mind will greatly benefit our organization.”

Ganguly, known for his extensive experience and strategic insight, enthusiastically expressed his excitement for joining JSW Sports by stating, “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the JSW Group and the Jindal family, which ultimately made this an easy decision.” Furthermore, he highlighted the visionary work JSW Sports has been doing in the cricketing domain. Furthermore, JSW Sports has been doing visionary work, and I’m pleased to lend my experience to its cricketing projects.”

As he steps into this new role, Ganguly aims to replicate his previous success by nurturing young talent and, in addition, driving cricketing excellence within the JSW framework.
