David Warner, former Australia opener, was arrested in Sydney on Sunday for drink driving after failing a breath test. Reports say the 39-year-old was found to be more than twice the legal alcohol limit when police stopped him during a random check. He was then taken to Maroubra Police Station.

At the time of the incident, Warner was playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as captain of Karachi Kings. He had returned to Australia for a week due to personal reasons during a break in the PSL schedule. His team last played on April 2, where he scored a half-century in a win.
Despite the arrest, the situation is not expected to affect his cricket commitments. Warner is likely to return to Pakistan as planned and should be available for Karachi Kings’ next match on April 9. The team has been in great form this season, winning all three of their matches so far.
Before the PSL, Warner had an excellent Big Bash League (BBL) season with Sydney Thunder, where he averaged 86.6 and was named captain of the tournament’s official team.
Cricket New South Wales has responded seriously to the incident, stressing the importance of road safety and responsible driving. CEO Lee Germon stated that the organisation will support Warner through the legal process and continue educating players about safe behavior.
Warner is scheduled to appear in a Sydney court on May 7. The hearing date falls after the PSL final on May 3, meaning it should not impact his participation in the remainder of the tournament.
