Reports suggest Sanju Samson faces a major setback as selectors plan to exclude him from India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad for disciplinary reasons. Sanju Samson Likely to Miss Champions Trophy 2025 Squad – Reports

The BCCI is reportedly unhappy with Samson’s decision to skip the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a crucial fifty-over domestic competition. This disciplinary issue, coupled with fierce competition from Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, puts Samson’s place in jeopardy. The report states that the BCCI plans to back Pant as their primary wicketkeeper, with Rahul expected to play as a specialist batter.

Despite this setback, Samson remains a key player for India in the T20 format. He enjoyed a stellar 2024, smashing three centuries—the most by an Indian in a single year in T20Is. His impressive form made it impossible for selectors to overlook him for the upcoming T20I series against England.

India is set to face England in a five-match T20I series starting January 22, followed by three ODIs. These matches will serve as crucial preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025, giving players an opportunity to solidify their places in the squad.

Samson’s current situation highlights the intense competition within the Indian team, particularly in white-ball cricket, as players vie for spots in major tournaments.
