Australia has faced a significant setback with ace fast bowler Nathan Ellis ruled out of their UK tour due to a hamstring injury. The Australian team, led by Mitchell Marsh, was set to play three T20Is against Scotland and eight white-ball matches against England. Ellis’s injury occurred while playing for London Spirit in The Hundred 2024 and has forced Cricket Australia to withdraw him from the tour.

Known for his death-bowling prowess, Ellis’s absence is a blow to Australia’s pace attack, especially with key bowlers Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins unavailable. In Ellis’s place, Riley Meredith will remain with the Australian squad throughout their tour of the UK.
On a positive note, Josh Hazlewood has recovered from a calf injury that had previously sidelined him. Hazlewood has arrived in England and will be available for the T20I series against the home team. After the three T20Is against Scotland, Australia will move on to play three T20Is and five ODIs in England.
In the second T20I against Scotland, Josh Inglis played a crucial role in Australia’s comeback. Despite Scotland’s strong start and early breakthroughs from Brad Currie, Inglis’s impressive fifty, along with a solid innings from Cameron Green, helped Australia post a competitive score of 150 runs in just 16 overs.
