Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim is set to miss the remaining two ODIs against Afghanistan due to a finger injury. Rahim sustained the injury while keeping wickets during the 49th over of Afghanistan’s innings in the first ODI at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain and Chief Physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury confirmed the injury, suggesting Mushfiqur Rahim may have a hairline fracture. The official diagnosis will depend on test results, but initial assessments indicate he is unlikely to feature in the rest of the series.
Afghanistan emerged victorious in the first ODI, defeating Bangladesh by 92 runs. Afghanistan batted first and struggled early, slipping to 50/4. However, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi steadied the innings with 52, and Mohammad Nabi’s aggressive 84 from 79 balls, along with useful tail-end contributions, saw Afghanistan post 235 all out.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh appeared in control at 120/2 in the 26th over, thanks to steady knocks from Soumya Sarkar (33) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (40). However, a remarkable spell of 6 wickets for 26 runs from Afghanistan’s Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar turned the match. Bangladesh collapsed dramatically, losing eight wickets for just 23 runs in 42 balls, and were all out for 143, handing Afghanistan a decisive victory.
