Mumbai’s Irani Cup campaign suffered a blow as young batting talent Musheer Khan was ruled out after sustaining a fracture in a road accident. The teenager was traveling with his father, Naushan Khan, from Kanpur to Lucknow when the accident occurred. Reports confirm that Musheer was not with the Mumbai team but was en route from his hometown in Azamgarh to join the squad ahead of the Irani Cup.

A source close to the family told The Times of India, “He didn’t travel with the Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. He was probably traveling from his native place, Azamgarh, with his father when the accident took place.”
The severity of Musheer’s injury hasn’t been fully disclosed, but he is confirmed to miss the entire Irani Cup. This is a significant loss for Mumbai, who were relying on his batting prowess against the Rest of India.
Musheer’s performances in domestic cricket have been outstanding. The left-hander turned heads during his Duleep Trophy debut, scoring a brilliant 181 against India A. His consistent performances caught the attention of selectors. He was a strong contender for India A’s shadow tour. The tour was scheduled to happen in Australia later this year.
At just 19 years old, Musheer Khan has shown remarkable promise with his ability to deliver in pressure situations. His absence will be keenly felt, but his potential suggests a bright future in Indian cricket.
