Schutt’s brilliant performance saw her take 3 wickets for just 3 runs in 3.2 overs, helping Australia dismiss New Zealand for 88 runs in 19.2 overs. Australia secured a commanding 60-run win, and Schutt’s wickets not only sealed the victory but also solidified her place in history. She had equalled Ismail’s record of 43 wickets in Australia’s opening match against Sri Lanka on October 5, but took full ownership of the record by dismissing New Zealand’s Georgia Plimmer early in the game. Schutt further shined by taking the wicket of Amelia Kerr, New Zealand’s top scorer with 29 runs, and finishing off the match by dismissing Eden Carson.

Megan Schutt now holds 46 wickets in Women’s T20 World Cups, ahead of Shabnim Ismail (43), Anya Shrubsole (41), Ellyse Perry (40), and Stafanie Taylor (33).

In the match, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 148/8, with Beth Mooney top-scoring with 40 off 32 balls. New Zealand’s chase faltered as they struggled against Australia’s disciplined bowling attack, with Schutt and Annabel Sutherland taking three wickets each to bowl New Zealand out for 88, securing a 60-run victory for Australia.
