Jaiswal ready to play the third Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai

India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to return to domestic cricket, featuring for Mumbai in the third round of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy starting November 1, when they face Rajasthan in Jaipur in an Elite Group D match.

Jaiswal recently came back from Australia, where he was part of India’s ODI squad, and now aims to stay match-ready ahead of the upcoming home Test series against South Africa, beginning November 14 in Kolkata. His participation aligns with the BCCI’s directive requiring all centrally contracted players to play in domestic tournaments when available, ensuring consistent game time and readiness for international fixtures.

According to reports, Jaiswal has already informed Sanjay Patil, Mumbai’s chairman of selectors, about his availability. Patil and his selection panel are expected to announce the squad for the Rajasthan game once the ongoing round concludes on Tuesday.

If included, this will be Jaiswal’s first Ranji appearance for Mumbai since reaffirming his commitment to the team in May. Earlier, he had sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play for Goa, but later decided to continue representing his home side, Mumbai. His last match for the team came against Jammu & Kashmir at the BKC Ground, a game remembered for Rohit Sharma’s rare Ranji outing following India’s tough Australia tour.

Jaiswal’s most recent domestic appearance was in August, representing West Zone in the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru. Mumbai, meanwhile, started their Ranji campaign with a win over Jammu & Kashmir, but their second fixture against Chhattisgarh was affected by rain, preventing a decisive result. Jaiswal’s return is expected to further strengthen Mumbai’s top order as they aim to continue their strong start to the season.
