Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) marched into the IPL 2025 final with a dominant win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Thursday night. The emphatic victory not only secured their spot in the title clash but also triggered changes in the Purple and Orange Cap leaderboards.
Josh Hazlewood, returning from injury, produced a match-winning spell that tore through PBKS’s top order. With figures of 3/21, the Australian pacer showcased control and swing, rattling the opposition early. His impactful performance lifted him to No. 3 on the Purple Cap table, with 21 wickets in 11 matches.
Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad remains at the top with 24 wickets, while Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna, with 23 wickets, holds the second spot. Both players will be in action in the upcoming knockout matches. Trent Boult of Mumbai Indians, currently fourth with 19 wickets, will also feature in Friday’s Eliminator.
On the batting front, RCB’s chase of 102 saw Virat Kohli add just 12 runs, taking his season tally to 614 from 14 matches. He remains at No. 5 on the Orange Cap table. Gujarat Titans’ B Sai Sudharsan continues to lead with 679 runs, followed by teammates Shubman Gill (649) and MI’s Suryakumar Yadav (640), all of whom will play key roles on Friday.
Mitchell Marsh has wrapped up his IPL 2025 campaign for Lucknow Super Giants with an impressive 627 runs, securing fourth place comfortably on the Orange Cap table.
