Former Sri Lanka Under-19 captain Dhammika Niroshana died at the age of 41 after an unidentified individual fatally shot him outside his home in Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan Police are actively investigating the incident to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.

Dhammika Niroshana, survived by his wife and two children, had a promising cricket career but retired early from all forms of the game in 2004. Known as a talented fast-bowler who could also contribute with the bat, he made his Under-19 debut in 2000 and briefly captained the team in 2002.
Although he never represented the senior Sri Lankan team, Dhammika Niroshana played alongside future stars like Angelo Mathews, Upul Tharanga, and Farveez Maharoof at the Under-19 level and in the first-class circuit. He initially played for Chilaw Marians CC before moving to Galle CC.
The cricketing community mourns the loss of Dhammika Niroshana, remembering him for his contributions during his youth career and in domestic cricket. His untimely death has shocked and saddened many, leaving a void in Sri Lankan cricket where he once showed great promise and potential.
