Karun Nair, once a rising star in Indian cricket, is still hopeful of making a comeback to the national team. Known for being only the second Indian batter after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Tests, Nair’s career took a downturn after his brilliant 303* against England in 2016, eventually leading to his exclusion from the squad.

Now nearing 33, Nair remains determined to fight for his place in the Indian team. Currently playing in the Maharaja T20 League, he is focused on performing well and climbing back into the national setup. Reflecting on his journey, Nair shared, “I feel like I’m batting as well as I’ve ever done. I am in a good headspace, I know where my game is. My focus is on making the most of every opportunity to climb up the stairs again.”
Nair’s passion for Test cricket continues to drive him, as he added, “It’s still exciting to wake up each morning and dream of finding a way back to play Test cricket.”
His recent performance in the Maharaja T20 2024 showcased his talent, as he hammered an unbeaten 124 off just 48 balls against the Mangalore Dragons, hitting 9 sixes and maintaining a strike rate of 258.33. This innings is a testament to his enduring skill and his unwavering hope for a return to the Indian team.
