Ben Stokes to Miss India Tour and Champions Trophy Due to Injury

Ben Stokes, England’s Test captain, will miss the India tour and the 2025 Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury sustained during the third Test against New Zealand earlier this month. The 33-year-old’s absence is a significant setback, as he remains one of England’s most impactful players across formats. Stokes is not expected to recover in time for the five-match T20I series, three-match ODI series in India, or the Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile, England have announced squads for the India tour and the Champions Trophy, with Joe Root returning to the ODI setup for the first time since the ICC Men’s World Cup in November 2023. Root’s inclusion bolsters England’s batting lineup as they prepare for key limited-overs assignments.

The T20I series against India begins on January 22, followed by the ODI series from February 6 to February 12. Both squads are led by Jos Buttler, who continues as England’s white-ball captain. Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, and Adil Rashid also feature in both squads, adding depth and experience to the bowling attack.
