Arshdeep Singh Aims to Beat Haris Rauf’s Bowling Record in IND vs ENG 2nd T20I

India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has established himself as one of the most reliable bowlers in T20I cricket since his debut in July 2022. His consistency has been remarkable, and he showcased it in the first T20I against England at Eden Gardens, where he took two wickets for just 17 runs in four overs. In doing so, Arshdeep surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal to become India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in T20Is. With 97 wickets from 61 matches, he boasts an impressive average of 17.91.

Arshdeep now has another historic milestone in his sights. As he prepares for the second T20I against England on January 25, he is just three wickets away from breaking a unique record. He aims to become the fastest fast bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets, a record currently held by Pakistan’s Haris Rauf, who achieved the feat in 71 matches.

The fastest 100 wickets in T20Is by pacers is as follows:

  • Haris Rauf (Pakistan) – 71 matches
  • Mark Adair (Ireland) – 72 matches
  • Bilal Khan (Oman) – 72 matches
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan) – 74 matches
  • Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka) – 76 matches

If Arshdeep succeeds, he will join a select group of bowlers who have reached the 100-wicket mark in record time. Rashid Khan (53 matches) and Sandeep Lamichhane (54 matches) have done it the fastest. Arshdeep could also surpass Wanindu Hasaranga, who reached the milestone in 63 matches. However, among pacers, Arshdeep will break Haris Rauf’s record with this achievement.
