Legspinner Abrar Ahmed is currently hospitalized in Multan after falling ill. He bowled 31 overs on day three of the Test match against England but reported high fever and body aches on the fourth morning. As a result, he did not take the field with his teammates.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a statement indicating that Abrar has undergone several tests, and further updates will be provided once the results are available.
During the match, Abrar faced a challenging time with the ball, as England targeted him for attack. For much of the second half of the day, he had to bowl from around the wicket to Joe Root and Harry Brook, trying to drag down his economy rate. Unfortunately, he ended the day as the only frontline bowler without taking a wicket, finishing with figures of 35 overs, 0 wickets, and 174 runs conceded. This performance contrasts sharply with his impressive debut on the same ground against England in 2022, where he took 11 wickets in the match, including five before lunch on day one.
Injuries have plagued Abrar throughout his career. He made his professional debut for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL at just 18 but later missed significant playing time due to a persistent back injury. He also sustained a nerve injury before Pakistan’s Test tour of Australia, causing him to miss all three Tests and the first Test against Bangladesh in August.
Pakistan initially named Noman Ali and Zahid Mahmood in the squad for the ongoing first Test against England but released them before the match started.
