Chris Dehring, who served as the managing director and CEO during the 2007 ODI World Cup in the Caribbean, has been appointed as the new chief executive of Cricket West Indies (CWI). He takes over from Johnny Grave, who resigned in October. Dehring’s appointment follows a competitive selection process, with over 50 applicants from Europe, Australia, Afghanistan, India, and the Caribbean considered for the role.

CWI president Kishore Shallow expressed confidence in Chris Dehring, calling him an innovator, strategist, and business magnate. Shallow believes Dehring’s leadership will be key to West Indies cricket’s resurgence and their aim to regain dominance in world cricket. Dehring’s extensive background in finance, sports management, media, and telecommunications will serve him well in his new role. He previously oversaw the construction of ten international-standard stadiums during the 2007 World Cup and is the founder of the Caribbean sports broadcaster, SportsMax. He also co-founded the Jamaican investment bank, Dehring, Bunting & Golding, and has held senior roles at Cable & Wireless.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Chris Dehring acknowledged the deep connection he has with West Indies cricket. “It has always held a special place in my heart,” he said. He emphasized his commitment to driving innovation, fostering new talent, and reigniting the passion for West Indies cricket, both at home and globally.
Chris Dehring will officially begin his tenure on February 1, 2025, marking the start of an exciting new era for CWI.
