The debate over the location of the 2025 Champions Trophy continues, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rejecting India’s proposal for a hybrid model. The proposal suggested holding some of the tournament’s matches in the UAE due to security concerns over India’s visit to Pakistan. However, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi firmly stated that Pakistan would host the tournament exclusively and emphasized that India should address its concerns directly with the PCB.

In a media address outside Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Naqvi expressed Pakistan’s commitment to hosting the Champions Trophy, saying, “Pakistan’s pride and respect is our priority. We will not accept a hybrid model. If India has any concerns, they can come to us directly, and we will sort them out.” He made it clear that the PCB stands firm on its decision, awaiting the International Cricket Council (ICC) to finalize and announce the schedule.
The PCB chairman also made a strong statement against mixing politics with sports. He reiterated, “Sports and politics should not interfere with each other,” stressing that sporting decisions should be based on merit and not external influences.
Reports suggest that if the hybrid model is rejected, South Africa could host the tournament. However, no official confirmation has come through. With the ICC yet to finalize the schedule, cricket fans are eagerly awaiting clarity on where the 2025 Champions Trophy will take place. The ongoing tension between India and Pakistan adds an unpredictable element to the event’s future.
