The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the Test Team of the Year for 2024, featuring three Indian players and led by Australia’s Pat Cummins. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Yashasvi Jaiswal earned their spots in the prestigious XI, thanks to their stellar performances throughout the year.

Jaiswal, Duckett Open the Batting: India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and England’s Ben Duckett will form the opening pair. Jaiswal had a phenomenal year, scoring 1,478 runs, including a record-breaking 712 runs in a single series against England. Duckett also shone brightly, finishing as England’s top scorer against India with 343 runs and ending the year as the third-highest run-scorer with 1,432 runs, behind only Joe Root and Jaiswal.
Veterans Williamson and Root Anchor the Middle Order
Kane Williamson and Joe Root strengthen the middle order with their consistency and experience. Root topped the Test batting charts in 2024 with 1,556 runs, playing pivotal roles in England’s victories. Despite an injury-hit year, Williamson scored 1,013 runs, showcasing his class and earning a spot in the team.
Young Stars Make an Impact: Rising talents Harry Brook, Kamindu Mendis, and Jamie Smith made significant contributions. Brook’s triple century against Pakistan stood out, while Mendis, often compared to Don Bradman, impressed with his staggering average. Smith replaced Ben Foakes as England’s primary wicketkeeper with a stellar debut year.
World-Class Bowlers Lead the Attack
Cummins, the skipper, led Australia to the WTC final, while Jasprit Bumrah dominated with 51 wickets in the year, including a standout series against Australia. Jadeja, the sole spinner, and Matt Henry, the third pacer, complete the XI.
