BCCI Secretary Jay Shah welcomed a baby boy, adding to his joy amidst the IPL 2025 mega auction. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal announced the news during his speech at the auction event in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, November 24, sparking excitement among cricket fans and officials alike.

Shah is set to take over as the next chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in December, giving him reasons to celebrate on both personal and professional fronts. Dhumal congratulated Shah during the auction, referring to him as “India’s off-field captain,” a nod to his influential role in Indian cricket administration.
This joyful moment coincides with another significant development in Indian cricket, as Rohit Sharma, the Indian team’s on-field captain, also became a father to his second child earlier this month. This prompted Sharma to miss India’s first Test match against Australia in Perth, showing that personal milestones are impacting key players during crucial series.
In addition to his family happiness, Jay Shah is preparing to take over as ICC Chairman in December, following his election in August 2024. He will replace New Zealand’s Greg Barclay. Meanwhile, the BCCI is currently on the lookout for a successor to Shah as the board’s secretary. Speculation surrounds Rohan Jaitley potentially filling the role, but BCCI officials have yet to make an official decision regarding the new appointment.
With his personal and professional milestones, Jay Shah continues to be a significant figure in global cricket administration.
