On Friday, November 29, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the Indian team’s new jersey in a special event attended by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Adidas, the official sponsor of both the Men’s and Women’s Indian cricket teams, designed the jersey, which the BCCI revealed through a video on its official Twitter account.

The new design introduces a lighter shade of blue and features the re-introduction of the tricolour around the shoulders, evoking nostalgia from earlier jersey designs. This change marks a departure from the previous jersey, which had an orange shade around the shoulder area. The Men’s team wore the previous jersey during their run to the 2023 World Cup final and their victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The new jersey has received mixed reactions from fans. Some have criticized the design, while others have praised it, calling it a better version compared to the last one. Despite the varied opinions, the inclusion of the tricolour on the shoulders has garnered positive feedback, with many appreciating the nod to past jerseys.
In addition to the jersey launch, Jay Shah, who has been splitting his time between India and Dubai, will take over as the next ICC Chairman starting December 1. Shah’s appointment is a significant moment for Indian cricket, as he transitions from his role at the BCCI to the global cricketing stage. Notably, he was also scheduled to discuss the Champions Trophy 2025, but an emergency meeting with the PCB and ICC has been postponed until November 30.
