The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering extending its support to Nepal’s cricket teams by providing infrastructure and exposure-related assistance. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) president, Chatur Bahadur, recently met with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah to discuss the assistance required for the growth of cricket in Nepal.
It is speculated that the senior national team of Nepal could potentially train in Delhi and play warm-up games before heading to the United States for the T20 World Cup in June. The CAN president and BCCI secretary discussed the possibilities, and Jay Shah has encouraged the CAN president to draft a formal proposal outlining the assistance needed from the BCCI.

Nepal cricket currently seeks support in three key areas. Firstly, the senior national team requires an uninterrupted training camp ahead of the T20 World Cup, which may be challenging in Kathmandu due to weather conditions. The CAN officials believe that Delhi-NCR during the early summer months of April and May would be an ideal training base.
Secondly, the request includes access to the upgraded National Cricket Academy facilities in Bengaluru for injury management and rehabilitation for Nepal’s upcoming cricketers. Lastly, the CAN aims to secure match exposure for the U-19 and Nepal A team cricketers, proposing periodic practice games against U-19 and senior state teams.
While the discussions are still in the early stages, there is a positive response from Jay Shah, indicating potential cooperation in the growth of cricket in Nepal.
