The BCCI has lodged an official complaint with the ICC against Pakistan players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their on-field gestures during the Asia Cup Super Fours match in Dubai last Sunday. The complaint, filed via email on Wednesday, is now with the ICC. If the players deny the allegations, a hearing could be held, overseen by match referee Richie Richardson, with Andy Pycroft also officiating in the tournament.

The BCCI’s complaint highlights two incidents that gained wide attention on social media: Farhan’s animated celebration after reaching his half-century and Rauf’s gesture towards fans while fielding at the boundary. Both moments stirred debate and drew criticism online. India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate acknowledged the pressure on players but noted that India’s squad maintained composure. “We’re proud of how our players carried themselves. They fought with their bats and didn’t get distracted,” he said.
In a parallel development, the PCB has also filed a complaint with the ICC, targeting India captain Suryakumar Yadav. Their objection stems from his post-match remarks after India’s group-stage victory over Pakistan on September 14. Suryakumar dedicated the win to families of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and praised the armed forces. The PCB argued these comments were political and inappropriate for an international cricket stage.
The India-Pakistan rivalry at the Asia Cup has been intense, with controversies ranging from the absence of handshakes between captains to post-match gestures. Sunday’s Super Fours clash further escalated tensions, with heated exchanges involving Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Abhishek Sharma, and Shubman Gill. The ICC will now review both complaints, adding yet another layer of scrutiny to cricket’s most high-profile rivalry.
