In a significant update, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding India’s Champions Trophy jersey. Speaking to PTI, Saikia confirmed that the Indian team will feature Pakistan’s name on their jerseys, adhering to ICC regulations.

Earlier reports suggested that India might exclude Pakistan’s name from the jerseys, sparking widespread criticism on social media. Fans and experts accused the BCCI of not complying with ICC rules, creating a heated debate. However, Saikia clarified that the Men in Blue will fully follow ICC guidelines.
“The BCCI will adhere to all ICC uniform-related rules during the Champions Trophy. We will comply with the logo and dress code requirements as per the norms,” Saikia stated.
The BCCI Secretary also commented on whether Indian captain Rohit Sharma will travel to Pakistan for ICC’s pre-tournament engagements. These include the captains’ meeting, press conference, and official photoshoot in Lahore. Saikia revealed that the decision on Rohit’s participation is still under discussion.
“Whether Rohit Sharma travels to Pakistan for ICC media engagements is yet to be decided,” he said.
Reports had previously suggested that Rohit might skip these pre-tournament events. However, Saikia’s remarks indicate that the matter is unresolved, and inputs are being considered before making a final decision.
This development comes amidst heightened attention on India-Pakistan cricket relations, with the Champions Trophy set to bring added significance to the rivalry. Saikia’s statement aims to assure compliance with ICC rules while addressing public and media concerns. (Inputs: PTI)
