Cricket authorities handed a ban to Bangladeshi all-rounder Nasir Hossain from all cricket activities after he admitted to violating the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. They brought the charges against him in September 2023, resulting in a two-year ban, with six months suspended.

In 2018, Nasir Hossain, who last played for Bangladesh in an ODI match, confessed to three charges during the ICC trial. He failed to promptly disclose the receipt of a gift valued over US$750, namely a new iPhone 12, and he omitted full details regarding an approach or invitation to engage in corrupt conduct related to the same iPhone 12. Additionally, the Anti-Corruption Official found Hossain guilty of not cooperating with the investigation, as he failed to provide requested information and documentation without compelling justification.
Having played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s cricket journey from his debut in 2011 until 2018, Hossain participated in 115 matches across formats, contributing with both bat and ball by scoring 2695 runs and taking 39 wickets. Post-2018, he continued his cricket career in domestic leagues, most recently featuring in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for Prime Bank Cricket Club.
Nasir Hossain’s ban will conclude on April 7, 2025, provided he meets the conditions outlined in the suspended part of the sanction. This incident marks a significant setback for the cricketer, who played a key role in Bangladesh’s cricketing success during the earlier part of his career.
