Batters hit 8 sixes and 2 fours to chase 61 runs in 2 overs, winning with 1 ball left

Austria stunned the cricketing world with a miraculous win, scoring 61 runs in the last two overs to defeat Romania in the ECI T10 Romania tournament.

Batting first, Romania posted a formidable 168 runs in their ten overs, driven by wicketkeeper Ariyan Mohammed’s unbeaten century (104*) and opener Muhammad Moiz’s quick-fire 42. Austria faced the daunting task of chasing 168 runs in just ten overs. By the end of eight overs, they had reached 107 for the loss of three wickets, needing an improbable 61 runs from the final two overs.

In a sensational display, Aqib Iqbal led Austria to an unbelievable victory. Romania’s bowler Manmeet Koli had a disastrous spell, conceding 57 runs in his two overs, including 41 in the penultimate over with nine extras. In the final over, Imran Asif and captain Aqib Iqbal ruthlessly attacked Chamika Fernando, hitting four sixes and securing the win with four balls to spare. Iqbal was the standout performer, scoring an unbeaten 72 off just 19 balls, including 10 sixes and 2 fours, with an astonishing strike rate of 378.95. Imran Asif added a quick 22 off 12 balls, while opener Karanbir Singh provided a solid foundation with 30 runs off 13 balls.

Earlier, Romania’s Aryan Mohammed had played a blistering century innings, scoring 104 off 39 balls with 11 fours and eight sixes, at a strike rate of 266.67. Alongside him, Mohammad Moiz contributed 42 runs off 14 balls. Despite their efforts, Austria’s spectacular chase overshadowed Romania’s performance, highlighting a remarkable turn of events in T10 cricket.
