Athapaththu leads a balanced Sri Lankan team in the Women’s Asia Cup

Sri Lanka has recalled experienced players Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, and Anushka Sanjeewani for the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup, after resting them for the recent series against the West Indies. Notably absent are Rashmika Sewwandi and Imesha Dulani, making room for a blend of youth and experience.

Leading the batting charge are skipper Chamari Athapaththu and opener Vishmi Gunaratne, supported by middle-order stalwarts Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Perera, and Kavisha Dilhari. Wicketkeeper-batter Sanjeewani adds depth to the lower order alongside Nilakshi de Silva.

In the bowling department, Sri Lanka relies heavily on spin, with veterans Inoshi Priyadarshani and Sugandika Kumari complemented by youngsters like Sachini Nisansala, Shashini Gimhani, and Athapaththu herself. The return of Prabodhani and Kulasuriya strengthens the pace attack alongside Ama Kanchana and Kawya Kavindi.
