Afghanistan Enlists Dwayne Bravo as Bowling Consultant for T20 World Cup

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has enlisted the expertise of former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as their bowling consultant for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the Caribbean and the USA. Afghanistan has already commenced their preparations in St Kitts and Nevis, where Bravo will join the team for a ten-day preparatory camp.

Bravo, a pivotal member of the West Indies team that clinched two T20 World Cup titles, retired from international cricket after the 2021 T20 World Cup but continues to actively participate in T20 leagues worldwide. Earlier this year, he showcased his skills in the ILT20, representing the eventual champions MI Emirates. With an impressive record of 625 wickets in 573 T20 matches, Bravo currently stands as the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket.

In addition to his illustrious playing career, Bravo serves as the bowling coach for the five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings, a role he assumed after bidding adieu to his IPL playing career in December 2022.

Afghanistan’s warm-up matches are scheduled against Oman on May 29 and Scotland on May 31. In the T20 World Cup group stage, Afghanistan finds itself in Group C alongside West Indies, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. Their campaign kicks off against Uganda on June 5 in Providence.

Meanwhile, former West Indies player Kieron Pollard will be contributing to the England camp as their assistant coach for the tournament.
