The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has voiced disappointment following Cricket Australia’s announcement to postpone the upcoming three-match T20I series, reiterating its firm stance on maintaining neutral and politics-free cricket globally. Initially scheduled for August of this year, we’ve paused the fixtures, highlighting the complexities when sports and politics mix.

In response, the ACB emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between cricket boards in addressing such issues, acknowledging the pressures faced by Cricket Australia from the Australian Government. The ACB urged against governmental interference in cricket matters and advocated for support towards cricket development across regions instead.
This situation shows that Afghanistan and Australia haven’t been getting along well in cricket matches. Before this, Cricket Australia decided not to play a single Test match with Afghanistan in 2021. They also said no to playing a three-game ODI series in March 2023. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) says they’re serious about following ICC rules and keeping cricket away from politics. They’re open to talking with the right people to find other ways to solve this.
