Yuzvendra Chahal, a star Indian spinner, has etched his name in the annals of IPL history by becoming the first player to claim 200 wickets in the tournament. While currently representing Rajasthan Royals, Chahal’s journey in the IPL has been noteworthy, particularly his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where he was a pivotal figure.

AB de Villiers recently expressed his sentiments about RCB’s decision to release Chahal, highlighting how it was disheartening to witness. “RCB let him go. It was a heartbreaking moment. He was a part of the furniture there and also their best bowler. It was crazy that he got left out of that franchise,” De Villiers remarked in a video on his YouTube channel.

Despite RCB’s decision, Chahal has continued to excel in the IPL. Following his acquisition by Rajasthan Royals in the 2022 mega auction, Chahal made an immediate impact, winning the IPL Purple Cap in his debut season with the team and guiding them to the tournament final.

In the ongoing IPL 2024 season, Chahal has maintained his stellar form, emerging as one of the top performers. He currently shares the position of the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, with 13 wickets to his name alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel. Chahal’s outstanding contributions have propelled Rajasthan Royals to the top of the IPL standings, with 14 points from eight matches, making them strong contenders for the playoff berth and the title.
