Aamer Jamal Sets Record for Highest Score by No. 9 Pakistani Batter in Australia during AUS vs PAK Match

During the third Test match in Sydney on Wednesday, Aamer Jamal secured his place in the cricket record books by achieving the highest score by a No. 9 Pakistani batter in Tests in Australia. Stepping in to bat when Pakistan faced adversity at seven for 220, Jamal showcased remarkable resilience and skill, crafting an impressive innings of 82 runs off 97 deliveries. This noteworthy performance played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s posting of a competitive first-innings total of 313 runs.

Jamal’s innings, adorned with nine fours and four sixes, marked a significant milestone as he secured his maiden Test half-century. Not only did he surpass the previous record held by Wasim Bari, who scored 72 runs off 113 deliveries in Adelaide in 1972, but Jamal also demonstrated his batting prowess in challenging conditions.

Ranked as the third-highest by a Pakistan No. 9 batter in Tests, Jamal’s innings followed Asif Iqbal’s memorable century (146 off 244) against England at The Oval in 1967. In a notable partnership, Jamal contributed to an 86-run stand with Mir Hamza, who remained unbeaten on seven off 43 balls. This partnership now stands as the second-highest by a Pakistan pair for the 10th wicket in Australia. Aamer Jamal’s remarkable performance in Sydney adds a memorable chapter to Pakistan’s Test cricket history in Australia, showcasing his resilience and contributing to the team’s success.
