South African allrounder Corbin Bosch has been handed a one-year ban from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after he withdrew from the 2025 season despite being picked in the draft. Bosch, selected as a diamond pick by Peshawar Zalmi, opted out of the tournament after being signed as an injury replacement by Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL.
With the PSL and IPL overlapping this year, Bosch’s withdrawal was deemed a breach of contract, prompting the PCB to issue a legal notice. In a statement on its website, the PCB said Bosch had expressed his regret and accepted the one-year ban, which rules him out of the 2026 PSL season.
“I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL and sincerely apologise to the people of Pakistan, Peshawar Zalmi fans, and the wider cricket community,” Bosch said in a statement released by the PCB. “I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the one-year ban and penalty fine. This has been a tough lesson, and I hope to return to the PSL with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans.”
The PCB is keen to set a strong precedent through Bosch’s case to discourage players from pulling out of the PSL in favour of the IPL, especially if the scheduling conflict between the two leagues continues. To ensure player availability, the PSL was moved into the IPL window this year. Its draft was held after the IPL auction to attract players who went unsold, including big names like David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, Kane Williamson, and Rassie van der Dussen.
The 10th edition of the PSL is set to begin on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.
