Despite having the advantage throughout the two-match series, Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat by 120 runs in the second Test. The decision to play on spin-friendly pitches backfired, as Pakistan crumbled under pressure, and the West Indies ended their 35-year wait for a Test win on Pakistani soil.

Babar Azam Joins Disappointing List As WI Bowlers Overtake Him

In the aftermath, Babar Azam, as expected, has come under scrutiny for his poor form. The Pakistani captain’s performance in the 2024/25 Test series against the West Indies was disappointing, as he could only manage 45 runs across both matches, with an average of just 11.25. His highest score was a mere 31, well below his usual standard.

Shockingly, Babar found himself outperformed by several West Indies bowlers. Gudakesh Motie, Jomel Warrican, and Kevin Sinclair all scored more runs and had better averages than Babar in the series. Motie scored 92 runs in four innings at an average of 23, Warrican made 85 at an impressive 42.5, and Sinclair contributed 49 at a 12.25 average. Babar’s performance stood at 45 runs with an average of 11.25, putting him below all three West Indian bowlers.

Babar’s struggles were particularly concerning given his role as the anchor of Pakistan’s top order. While his teammates, including Shan Masood (80 runs) and Kamran Ghulam (67 runs), managed respectable scores, Babar’s inability to convert starts into substantial runs hurt Pakistan’s chances. As the team’s mainstay, Babar’s underwhelming performances were a significant blow to Pakistan’s hopes in the series.
