The ICC has cleared Australian spinner Matthew Kuhnemann of a suspect bowling action after an investigation. Officials reported the 28-year-old earlier this month, soon after he played a key role in Australia’s 2-0 Test series win against Sri Lanka.

Kuhnemann Free to Bowl Again

Kuhnemann toured Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series at the Galle International Stadium after featuring in the BBL 2024-25 season for Brisbane Heat. The left-arm spinner delivered an impressive performance, taking 16 wickets across four innings to help Australia dominate the series.

However, concerns over his bowling action led match officials to report him, temporarily preventing him from bowling in international cricket. The ICC conducted independent tests, and as per CODE Sports, Kuhnemann has now been cleared. He can resume bowling in competitive matches.

Support from Teammates

Throughout the process, Kuhnemann had the backing of his teammates. Interim captain Steve Smith expressed confidence in the spinner’s ability to pass the required tests. His clearance comes as a relief for Australia, with the spinner now available for selection.
