Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan Slip in Latest ICC Player Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the updated player rankings for men’s cricket this afternoon. Pakistan’s top stars—Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi—have dropped further in the latest T20I and ODI rankings.

Babar and Rizwan Drop in T20I Rankings

Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan Slip in Latest ICC Player Rankings

India’s explosive batter Abhishek Sharma surged into the top ten after an outstanding performance against England in the home series, climbing 38 spots. His rise led to the downfall of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the ICC T20I rankings for batters. Babar, who previously held sixth place, dropped to seventh, while Rizwan slipped from eighth to ninth with 704 rating points. Meanwhile, Australia’s Travis Head retained the top spot with 855 points.

Shaheen Afridi Falls in ODI Rankings

Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Shaheen Afridi also suffered a setback in the latest ICC ODI rankings for bowlers. Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana made significant progress, jumping four places to third, pushing Shaheen down to fourth in the standings.

Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan Set for Tri-Series Action

Despite the rankings drop, Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan remain key players for Pakistan ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. Before the marquee tournament, they will participate in a crucial ODI Tri-Series against New Zealand and South Africa on home soil. The highly anticipated series kicks off on February 8, with Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Fans will be eager to see how these Pakistani stars bounce back in this crucial series.
