Virat Kohli, one of India’s star batters, showed rare glimpses of his frustration following his latest dismissal against New Zealand. During the match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Kohli fell to Mitchell Santner once again, trapped lbw while attempting a backfoot flick. Doubting the decision, he opted for a review, but the replay only confirmed the umpire’s call. Frustrated, Kohli gave the umpire a piercing stare before leaving the field. In a now-viral video circulating on social media, Kohli can be seen walking off, crossing paths with Ravindra Jadeja, and, upon reaching the dressing room, slamming his bat on an ice box in evident frustration.
Kohli’s struggles have sparked discussions around his form, especially as India has now lost three home Tests this year. While Kohli managed a 70-run recovery in the first Test’s second innings, his recent performances have been modest, including a nine-ball duck in the first Test and scores of one and 17 in the Pune Test. The Indian team’s overall batting lineup has struggled to find its footing, with experienced players like Rohit Sharma, Kohli, and Jadeja unable to deliver as consistently as expected.
As New Zealand capitalized on India’s batting woes, India’s lineup crumbled to six wickets for just 95 in the Pune Test before reaching 159. The ongoing series has underscored India’s need for resilience and a return to form, especially in high-stakes home conditions.
