FC Barcelona are already setting their sights on potential signings for the summer of 2025, with plans focused on bolstering their attacking options. Despite being just a few months into the 2024/25 season, the Catalan club is reportedly looking to secure a high-quality left-winger after Ansu Fati’s underwhelming performances so far this campaign.
As confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is prioritizing the acquisition of a left-winger in the upcoming summer window, with two names emerging as the top targets: Rafael Leao of AC Milan and Nico Williams of Athletic Club.
Both players have been on Barcelona’s radar for some time. While a move for Williams fell through despite substantial interest earlier this year, Barcelona has long admired the 21-year-old’s pace and dribbling ability. Leao, too, has been a key target, though a transfer this year was deemed financially unfeasible given the club’s financial constraints and AC Milan’s firm stance on retaining the Portuguese star.
However, Barcelona expects the situation to change in 2025. If their financial situation improves, the club could be in a position to pursue one of these high-profile left-wingers. Leao has expressed an interest in joining Barcelona, while Williams has also left the door open to a potential move, despite choosing to stay at Athletic Club last summer.
With both players highly regarded at Barcelona, the club is actively discussing their options internally. As the 2025 summer window approaches, the Catalans are hopeful of securing one of these dynamic talents to reinforce their attack and address their left-wing position.
