Real Madrid’s highly regarded youth prospect, Jeremy de Leon, faces a setback in his development after suffering a shoulder injury that will keep him sidelined until 2025. Known affectionately within the club as the “lucky charm” due to his presence during many of the team’s top performances, de Leon has yet to make his mark with the first team but remains a popular figure within the youth setup.
The Puerto Rican starlet, who has shown promise at RM Castilla, now faces a significant challenge as he prepares to undergo surgery to treat the injury. Reports from Rodra P confirm that the youngster will be out of action for an extended period, with recovery expected to take several months. This marks yet another setback for de Leon, who has already battled through an ankle injury earlier this season.
De Leon’s season had been off to a frustrating start, with the 19-year-old playing only three matches for Castilla, totaling just 25 minutes on the pitch. His initial progress was interrupted by the ankle injury, and despite his potential, he has struggled to break into Raul Gonzalez’s plans. With this fresh setback, de Leon’s future at Real Madrid could be uncertain if his injury troubles persist.
While his injury will surely disappoint both the player and the club, Real Madrid will hope that the extended recovery period allows de Leon to return stronger and able to fulfill the promise he showed during his earlier development. However, his path to regular first-team action is now even more uncertain as he works to overcome these challenges.
