Mott expressed his excitement at returning to Sydney, where he began his coaching career in 2007 with New South Wales. He highlighted the opportunity to work with Shipperd, a coach he holds in high regard, as a key factor in his decision. Mott’s coaching journey has seen him achieve significant success, including guiding England to the 2022 T20 World Cup victory, uniting both white-ball trophies. However, his tenure ended after England’s disappointing performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup and T20 semi-final.

Rachael Haynes Praises Mott’s Appointment

Rachael Haynes, Sixers’ general manager and a former key player under Mott with Australia, welcomed his appointment. She praised his track record of building winning cultures and believes his experience will be invaluable for the team. Haynes also emphasized the strength of the coaching team, led by Shipperd for the men and Charlotte Edwards for the women.
