Yamaha Motor Racing has announced that Paolo Pavesio will succeed Lin Jarvis as Managing Director, effective January 1, 2025.
Pavesio, who is currently the Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe, has played a pivotal role in restructuring the company’s motorsport division. Under his leadership, Yamaha teams achieved notable success, clinching world championships in World Superbikes, Endurance World Championship (EWC), and MXGP.
Pavesio’s appointment marks the end of Jarvis’ distinguished 26-year tenure at Yamaha. During his time as Managing Director, Jarvis guided the Japanese manufacturer to eight rider titles, six constructor titles, and seven team titles. His leadership saw Yamaha’s golden era with stars like Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo and their most recent title triumph with Fabio Quartararo.
Despite stepping down from his role as Managing Director, Jarvis will continue to contribute to Yamaha as a Senior Advisor, ensuring the company benefits from his extensive experience and insights.
Takahiro Sumi, General Manager of Yamaha’s Motor Sports Development Division, expressed his gratitude to Jarvis, saying, “On behalf of Yamaha and personally, I would like to extend our deepest thanks to Lin for his unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements over the past 26 years. His commitment and leadership have been crucial to Yamaha’s success in MotoGP, and we are pleased that we will still benefit from his expertise in his new role as Senior Advisor.”
Sumi also welcomed Pavesio, stating, “Paolo Pavesio brings a wealth of experience from his time at Yamaha Motor Europe, where he led our teams to World Championship victories in various disciplines. We are excited to welcome him to Yamaha Motor Racing in January and are confident that under his leadership, Yamaha will continue to achieve future successes in MotoGP.”
As Pavesio prepares to take the reins, Yamaha looks forward to a new chapter in its racing history, aiming to build on the solid foundation laid by Jarvis.
