Rashid Khan’s Test Absence Extended Until November – Reports

Cricket has seen many stars rise, but few shine as brightly as Rashid Khan. The Afghan leg-spinner, known for his rapid deliveries and sharp strategies, is a key figure in Afghan cricket. However, fans will have to wait longer for his Test return due to a recent announcement from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

Rashid Khan's Test Absence Extended Until November - Reports

The ACB confirmed that Rashid Khan will miss Test cricket until November 2024 due to his doctors’ advice. This decision follows the back surgery Rashid had last year. To ensure a complete recovery, medical professionals have advised him to avoid long-format cricket during this period.

As a result, Rashid will miss the one-off Test against New Zealand, scheduled from September 9-13 in Greater Noida, India. He is also uncertain for the Test series against Zimbabwe in December. ACB Chief Executive Naseeb Khan expressed hope that Rashid could return for the Zimbabwe series.

“Following Rashid Khan’s back operation last year, his doctors have recommended a one-year break from Test cricket,” Naseeb Khan told Cricbuzz. “We’re optimistic he’ll be available for the two Tests against Zimbabwe in December.”

Despite this setback, Rashid remains in good form and is expected to play in the three-match ODI series against South Africa in the UAE from September 18 to 22. Recently, he captained the Speen Ghar Tigers in the Shpageeza T20 League in Kabul, where he displayed impressive performances, scoring 68 runs in 3 innings and taking 6 wickets.
