Sai Sudharsan rejoins Surrey for two County Championship matches

India and Tamil Nadu batter B Sai Sudharsan has rejoined Surrey for their upcoming County Championship matches against Lancashire and Nottinghamshire. This marks Sudharsan’s return to Surrey after playing for them in a previous County Championship match against Essex in June, just before making his T20I debut for India in Harare in July.

These two County Championship games will serve as valuable preparation for Sudharsan ahead of the Duleep Trophy, which starts on September 5 in Bengaluru and Anantapur. He will be part of Team C, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Sudharsan’s county stint will conclude on September 1 after Surrey’s away game at Trent Bridge.

Sudharsan is not participating in the ongoing Buchi Babu tournament in Coimbatore and Salem, where two Tamil Nadu teams are currently in action.

In September 2023, Sudharsan played twice for Surrey, contributing to their County Championship Division One title win during his debut stint with the team. His performance in the IPL 2024 further solidified his reputation, as he became the top run-scorer for Gujarat Titans, amassing 527 runs in 12 innings at an impressive average of 47.90 and a strike rate of 141.28.

Surrey, currently leading the Division One table, are aiming for their third consecutive County Championship title, and Sudharsan’s return could be a significant boost to their campaign.
